Somerset faces a Council Tax rise of 11%

Somerset Council plans to raise Council Tax by a staggering £200 this year - meaning you could be paying £900 more overall in Council Tax since the Liberal Democrats took control of Somerset Council in 2022.

Normally, a rise of this size triggers a public referendum, giving you the final say. Instead, for the second year in a row, the Liberal Democrats are seeking special permission from the Government to bypass the standard cap entirely.

Before asking people to shoulder another above referendum limit council tax increase increase of 11%, the Liberal Democrats at Somerset Council should give residents a say.

The Conservatives in Somerset have drafted a letter to demand residents are given a say in any Council Tax rises.

It is important that local people like yourself are given a say.
